Reliable compressed air supply for modern urban and long-distance bus transport
Compressors for buses - Where efficiency meets sustainability
CVS compressors and compressed air systems provide dependable air generation and distribution for buses of all propulsion types—electric, hybrid, hydrogen-powered, or diesel. Compressed air is crucial for safety-critical and comfort-enhancing systems in daily bus operation.
Key pneumatic applications in bus transport
- 1. Brake systems – safety comes first
- 2. Air suspension – comfortable travel for every passenger
- 3. Door systems – quiet and secure operation
Pneumatic brake systems, including service and parking brakes, require a constant supply of compressed air. First launched in 2008, our RPO compressors have been designed for low energy consumption and reliable operation, day in, day out in any weather.
Modern bus air suspension systems dynamically adjust to driving conditions and load. RPO compressors deliver up to 800 l/min of compressed air, even during frequent stops on city routes. Their design ensures a smooth and stable ride experience.
Many buses utilize pneumatic door systems. Their quiet, precise movements enable comfortable boarding and alighting. Our compressors provide the necessary pressure, with low maintenance requirements and low energy consumption.
Why choose CVS for pneumatic applications on your bus
Our oil-injected rotary vane technology (RPO series) offers maximum cost-effectiveness through minimal maintenance, high reliability, and an exceptionally long service life, ideal for fleet operators focused on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
RPO compressors minimize noise and vibration, benefiting both passengers and maintenance staff.
CVS delivers turnkey systems, from initial design to successful commissioning. Our expertise is especially valuable for retrofitting existing vehicles with limited installation space.
Combining deep know-how in mobile compressed air systems with innovative technology, CVS’ international team offers expert consulting and tailor-made solutions.
Thanks to efficient processes and extensive in-house manufacturing, CVS reliably meets deadlines—even for urgent projects.
Technology details: Oil-lubricated rotary vane compressors
How rotary vane Compressors work
Oil-lubricated rotary vane compressors operate on the displacement principle using an eccentrically mounted rotor with radially moving vanes:
Intake: Air enters through the inlet valve as the volume between two vanes increases.
Compression: The rotor’s motion reduces the air volume, increasing pressure.
Discharge: Compressed air exits the system through the outlet.
Lubrication: Oil is injected for cooling, sealing, and lubrication. The oil-air mixture is separated afterward.
